Let's be honest

I got to thinking about the type of love that's communicated by gift giving. Some people take their message of the other's love based on the size or amount of the present. Thus, a nice dinner communicates some love, but a new necklace communicates even more love. For others, it's the timeliness of the gift. For them, a gift given on Christmas is nice, but a gift given without any ties to a holiday or birthday/anniversary means much, much more. Still others value the personal factor of a gift. A gift of a sweater might be nice, but the gift of a sweater that was handmade can send some people into love overload! Sometimes even just a thoughtful note might be a huge sign of love for someone like this, whereas it may mean very little to someone else. So, what do you value when you receive a gift? Furthermore, does this same style translate into gift-giving? (In other words, do you give others what you most want to receive yourself?)
